NEW DELHI: Chinese handset maker OPPO has issued a clarification after two Muslim youths alleged that they denied job in the mobile company in Greater Noida’s Kasna area of Uttar Pradesh.

Calling the incident to be an unfortunate one, the mobile company said it never discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, gender, identity, sexual orientation, age, national origin or any form of disability.

The company in a clarification e-mail to The Siasat Daily also said that “job applicants at OPPO undergo a multi-layer rigorous selection process where no one individual is responsible for the final decision.”

“This is an unfortunate incident that does not represent OPPO’s organizational values. Details of what transpired at the third-party contractor led hiring process remain unclear and we are currently investigating the matter. OPPO is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and we never discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, gender, identity, sexual orientation, age, national origin or any form of disability. Job applicants at OPPO undergo a multi-layer rigorous selection process where no one individual is responsible for the final decision. Hiring is guided by merit and is dependent on a variety of parameters such as technical know-how, experience with machinery, past experience etc. Our sub-contractors are chosen after a comprehensive screening process and receive training to better understand the company’s values and culture. We are proud of our diverse and inclusive workforce and do not tolerate any form of discrimination,” said the company via an e-mail.

According to Caravan Daily reports, the youths named 26-year-old Saeed Ansari and Azad Ansari alleged that all of the candidates who went through a series of interviews got shortlisted except them.
